Reminder: Child Safety Requirements

As part of the Australian Government’s response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse findings, you may have received an email and letter from the Department of Social Service seeking confirmation that your organisation and any staff engaging with children, comply with state and/or territory legislation relating to working with children. This includes mandated police checks, working with children checks and working with vulnerable people checks.

We would like to thank the large number of organisations who have already returned a signed statement of compliance, and for working closely with the Australian Government to help foster more child-safe organisations across Australia.

This is a reminder for organisations that have not yet returned a statement of compliance, that statements are due 22 November 2018 and should be sent to childsafetycompliance@dss.gov.au.
