Community Grants Hub

Since opening our doors for business on 1 July 2016, the Community Grants Hub, implemented by the Department of Social Services (DSS), is changing the way the Australian Government delivers grants.

The Australian Government administers more than $30 billion in grant funding annually, delivered through around 500 programs, by 40 agencies. So the Government is streamlining grants administration by standardising how grants are designed, established and managed across government for the benefit of stakeholders and the community.

The Hub delivers a simplified, consistent and streamlined grants administration service for Government agencies and organisations who deliver grants programs to individuals and the community sector. We do this so that:

  • potential grant recipients can find out about and apply for Commonwealth Government funding from a single point (the Hub website)
  • grant applicants will have a consistent experience – they will know what information they will be expected to provide and how the process operates each time they apply for funding, and
  • the community can expect best practice in the Government’s administration of grants processes, including by making processes simpler and more cost-effective.

As the Hub enters its second year of operation our business will double as we now provide end-to-end grants administration services for client agencies using the Hub’s services.
