Livestock Transport Industry Transition Program

The Australian Government is providing assistance for sheep producers and associated supply chain entities affected by the cessation of live sheep exports by sea from 1 May 2028.

This program will support livestock transport businesses involved in delivering sheep and essential export related goods – such as feed, bedding, water systems, veterinary supplies and handling equipment – specifically for the live sheep export by sea trade. This program will help these businesses transition to other transport-related activities, which may require further investment to ensure future sustainability.

The objective of the program is:

  • To support livestock transport businesses impacted by the phase out by enabling a range of planning, professional and technical advice, training and co-funded investment in asset modification and acquisition.

The intended outcome of the program is:

  • Livestock transport businesses impacted by the phase out of live sheep exports by sea access transition funding assisting them to obtain advice and make changes to their business operations.

Grant Opportunity Guidelines and other supporting documents will be published when the grant opportunity is open for applications.
