National Disability Strategy - National Disability Conference Initiative

Grant Opportunity – coming soon.

A new National Disability Strategy - National Disability Conference Initiative 2021-22 grant opportunity will open in late 2020. The grant opportunity will consist of two discrete streams:

a) Stream 1: Disability Conferences Activity (DCA)

The DCA will be a continuation of the long standing NDCI program, providing grants of up to $10,000 to enable disability conference organisers to maximise the inclusion and participation of people with disability at their disability focused conferences.

b) Stream 2: Mainstream Conference Inclusion Activity (MCIA)

This is a new stream to provide grants of up to $10,000 to Disabled Peoples Organisations and Families Organisations (DPO/FOs) to collaborate with a mainstream conference organiser to ensure conference proceedings include a focus on people with disability. This could, for example, include conferences in fields such as: sport, tourism, arts, environment, technology/IT, employment, education, health, housing, transport, justice.

This new stream aims to support the outcomes of the National Disability Strategy by facilitating greater inclusion of people with disability in mainstream areas that impact their day to day lives.

Note: In submitting an application under Stream 2, DPO/FOs will need to have proposed collaboration arrangements in place with a mainstream conference organiser pending a successful grant outcome. In anticipation of this DPO/FOs may wish to start considering potential mainstream conference partners early.

This grant opportunity will be administered by the Community Grants Hub on behalf of the Department of Social Services.
