Infrastructure for Multicultural Communities - Modernised Multicultural Grants Program
Multicultural community organisations will be able to apply for funding for physical infrastructure to support multicultural communities to connect and commune in a designated physical environment.
Funded projects will target construction, upgrade or extension of infrastructure that provides demonstrated benefits to multicultural communities.
Grant recipients must be prepared to provide the following close to the grant execution date:
regulatory and/or development approvals
evidence of experience in delivering similar sized projects or have engaged a third party with relevant experience
evidence of co-contribution from another source or cash contribution to the project
detailed project proposal, including project plans (designs), timelines and procurement process
detailed budget including quotes and cost benefit analysis
detailed risk management plan
evidence of ownership or permission to use the land/infrastructure.
The following will be prioritised for funding through this grant:
New and emerging communities.
Projects focussed on achieving positive outcomes for women, gender diverse people and people with a disability.
Other multicultural community groups, including those in metropolitan locations, will also be able to apply.

Critical Support for Multicultural Communities - Independent Multicultural Media - transformation and sustainability

The Australian Government has committed $10 million for a one-off grant opportunity to support eligible Australian independent multicultural media organisations transition to sustainable new media practices.
The funding will support the implementation of innovative business practices, capacity building, and strengthen sustainability and resilience.
Eligibility requirements
To be eligible to apply for this grant, organisations must:
Demonstrate that they are either:
Category 1: a current paid member of Independent Multicultural Media Australia (IMMA) at the time of the grant opportunity closing date; or
Category 2: a current Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) member at the time of the grant opportunity closing date, and 100% of airtime is dedicated to at least one community defined by their cultural or linguistic background; or
Category 3: an independent multicultural media organisation that delivers 100% of their media content through print, radio, television, and/or digital news sites to at least one community defined by their cultural or linguistic background, and has been operating continuously since at least 1 July 2023.
Have had an annual revenue in either the 2023–24 or 2024–25 financial year of less than $4.0 million.

Local Jobs, Local People Grant Opportunity
The Local Jobs, Local People Grant Opportunity, delivered under the Local Jobs Program, will fund activities addressing local employment needs, supporting individuals into ongoing employment, or providing a clear pathway to employment. Supporting people registered in employment services is a priority.
The grant opportunity will provide a total of up to $10 million (GST exclusive) in funding to 30 June 2027. The grant round will be conducted through an open competitive process. It is anticipated the grants will be from around $50,000 to $250,000 (GST exclusive).
Grants awarded under this opportunity will support activities addressing one or more of the priorities in the Local Jobs Plan for each relevant Employment Region. Successful grants will focus on supporting those who experience barriers to employment, such as First Nations peoples, mature age Australians, migrants and refugees or young people, or focus on opportunities for local employment in critical sectors such as construction, manufacturing, care and support, digital and emerging technologies, and the energy transition.

Future Drought Fund’s Strengthening Drought Resilience on Country Grant Program
The Strengthening Drought Resilience on Country program will provide $12 million to support First Nations-led, community-driven projects that build resilience to drought and climate impacts - by Mob, for Mob.
Up to 6 First Nations organisations, businesses or consortia will be selected as delivery partners through a targeted competitive grant round. Consortia may include non-Indigenous entities but must be First Nations-led.
Delivery partners will work with First Nations peoples in their regions to identify and co-design projects and administer the distribution of funds for those projects.
Projects will address economic, environmental and/or social matters, including cultural practices, that support resilience to drought and climate impacts.
Funding includes:
Administrative funding for coordination and co-design of projects
Project funding for sub-grantees to deliver on-ground activities.
Activities may include (but are not limited to) cultural land management, sustainable agriculture and knowledge sharing for cultural continuity.
Delivery partners must ensure inclusive engagement, including women, youth and people with disability.
The program aligns with the National Agreement on Closing the Gap, supporting Priority Reform 2 and Outcomes 8, 15 and 16.
The grant round will be open for up to 18 weeks, with an information webinar (anticipated in August) and Grant Opportunity Guidelines available once the opportunity is open for applications.

Future Drought Fund Drought Resilience Innovation Challenges Pilot Program
The Innovation Challenges Pilot Program will provide $20 million in funding for high-impact projects that increase the drought resilience of Australian agriculture, farmers and communities by:
Fast-tracking innovative and transformational solutions, at or above the applied research stage, to one or more drought and climate challenges listed below
Providing a strong evidence base for scaling up of adoption of these solutions
Involving a consortium of project partners including farmers or farming organisations.
Funding of up to $2 million is available per project through an open competitive grant process. Activities must be completed by 30 June 2028.
Projects must provide solutions to one of more of the following challenges:
Advancing Natural Capital and Biodiversity for Drought Preparedness and Resilience.
Innovating Water Management for Enhanced Drought Resilience in Australian Agriculture.
National Innovation for Enhancing Community Resilience to Drought in Australian Agricultural Regions.
Applications must involve a consortium or partners, with a lead organisation nominated as the ‘applicant’. Each applicant must develop a theory of change for the project.

Multicultural Grassroots Initiatives – Round 2
The Australian Government has committed $30 million for future rounds of the Multicultural Grassroots Initiatives (MGI) grants program. Round 2 is anticipated to open for applications in late 2025. This grant opportunity is part of the Modernised Multicultural Grant Program, which will run over 4 years from 2024–25 to 2027–28 as part of the Government’s response to the Multicultural Framework Review.
The core purpose of MGI is to enhance the capacity of multicultural community led grassroots organisations to foster a cohesive multicultural Australia by:
enhancing the capacity of multicultural community led grassroots organisations to foster a cohesive multicultural Australia
increasing understanding of racial, religious and cultural diversity
fostering integration through increased levels of social participation by culturally and linguistically diverse Australians
fostering a sense of community and belonging among culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
Applications submitted under Round one will not be revisited; organisations will need to submit a new application when future Rounds open for applications.

Social Enterprise Development Initiative First Nations Grants Administrator grant opportunity coming soon
As part of the Targeting Entrenched Disadvantaged package in 2023–24, the Australian Government committed $11.6 million to the Social Enterprise Development Initiative (SEDI) to support the growth of the social enterprise sector nationally.
Additional funding of $2.94 million (2025–26 and 2026–27) will fund a SEDI First Nations Grants Administrator inclusive of on-funding (Capability Building Funding) to First Nations social enterprises to purchase capability building support. Applicants will propose a funding split for the $2.94 million that maximises on-funding and outcomes for First Nations social enterprises.
A First Nations Grants Administrator would work with the Department of Social Services to design an application process, and then select and provide funding to First Nations social enterprises.
Funding specifically supporting First Nations social enterprises will complement the existing activities being delivered under the SEDI. Applicants must be First Nations organisations or form a consortium with at least one First Nations organisation.

Grants through this program will support grass roots efforts to create safe and inclusive communities by improving understanding and shifting mindsets in relation to disability, and barriers to inclusion of people with disability.
Grants of between $50,000 (GST exclusive) and $300,000 (GST exclusive) will be available to eligible Disability Representative Organisations (DROs) and Disabled People’s Organisations (DPO’s). Grants can be used for research and development costs, delivery of tools and training, accessibility requirements and consultation.
